A GUIDE TO KITZBUHEL

It is not without good reason Kitzbühel is widely regarded as the “Monaco of the Alps!” With its wide choice of 5* Hotels , exceptional restaurants and swanky shopping possibilities including Dior , Louis Vuitton and Rolex all positioned conveniently in the charming Old Town area .  

Property  prices reflect this upmarket vibe with Apartments ranging from 750k to 2.5m. Chalets are rarely found under 3m Euros with the top end fetching in excess of 15m .

Kitzbühel however is not all about Luxury Hotels, restaurants and shopping! Winter and Summer sports enthusiasts will not be disappointed . There are many  winter and summer events held throughout the year to keep you entertained. Every January Kitzbühel is host to the most famous Downhill Ski Race in the world, the Strief! Well over 100,000 sports (and partying!)enthusiasts descend upon this picturesque Medieval Town to witness the Downhill Gladiators dice with death as they race at speeds of up to 150 km per hour  hoping to achieve legendary status by becoming a Strief winner !

SUMMER

Kitzbühel is however not just a winter playground . Summer in this region is as popular if not more so  than winter with a wide range of sporting and leisure activities to enjoy. Tennis fans can witness a top ATP event held  every July at the Kitzbühel Tennis Stadium where top players from around the world compete for this prestigious title.

Golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with numerous top class facilities within 10 minutes drive . The more adventurous can try Paragliding, Canyoning , Rafting , Biking and much more!

 If all that is too energetic then why not try a nice sedate Horse Carriage Ride to the warmest Lake in the Alps , Schwarzsee.

Skiwelt has it all ! Winter and Summer this all year round destination made up of 7 towns and villages (Elmau / Going , Brixen im Thale, Scheffau , Westerndorf , Söll , Hopfgarten and Itter) will keep you entertained . The enchanting town of Kirchberg is perfectly situated being part of the Kitzski area and only a 10 minute drive from Kitzbühel. The airports of Salzburg (80km) , Innsbruck (90km ) and Munich (160 km) airports are not far away . Kirchberg like many of its neighbours gives a warm welcome to tourists and provides excellent sporting opportunities in both Winter and Summer. 

Due to its proximity to Kitzbühel and its own unique charms , Chalets and Penthouses with 2nd home status (Zweitwohnsitz) or smaller appartments that are designated for Tourist use are in high demand. The picturesque landscape, superb choices of culinary delights and an endless list of winter and summer activities means there is something for everyone in Kirchberg .

Golfers are not forgotten with many excellent choices within a 15 minutes drive. (Schwarzsee Golf course only 5 minutes).

A GUIDE TO ST JOHANN

This small busy market town is ideally situated between the Kitzbüheler Horn and Wilder Kaiser and oozes charm with its traditional Tyrolean town centre and weekly Friday Farmers Market. With a nice choice of restaurants and bars it’s an ideal location for a relaxing family holiday. 

WINTER

Although the skiing area is not as extensive compared with neighbouring resorts there is plenty of possibilities for beginners and intermediate skiers to have a great day on the slopes. For the more advanced skiers Fieberbrunn (15 mins by car ) Kitzbuhel and SkiWelt are a short distance away . St Johann to Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm   by train is only 8 minutes and the journey is free when you have a ski pass ! The main Kitzbuhel Hahnenkamm ski lift is literally a few steps away after exiting the train! 

Not only can St Johann be described as a perfect holiday destination it would also be ideal for anyone looking to re locate on a permanent basis due to its ideal location between Salzburg and Innsbruck. The regional hospital is based here and it’s a true working town with many car dealers such as BMW / Porsche and VW having dealerships close by . Children’s education is also well catered for with numerous high quality nurseries , an excellent primary school (Volksschule ) and two upper schools.

SUMMER

Like many duel season Austrian resorts the summer is as busy as the winter ! Hiking E-Biking, swimming, climbing and downhill karting are just a few of the possibilities in this laid back Tyrolean gem !

WINTER

Arguably one of the best ski resorts in the world! That is a bold statement but once you have spent a vacation there you will definitely be convinced !
